Kim Disley is a designer/maker living in North Wales.
During her BA(Hons) studies, Kim specialised in glass but turned to textiles during her MA studies. Throughout her work there is an underlying mathematical code; Kim's belief is that good design has to follow a mathematical/geometrical rule, therefore much of her work deals with repetition, line and order.
Having realised that the origin of ‘Text’ comes from the Latin ‘textere’ meaning ‘to weave’, Kim is translating written texts into visual embroideries and patterns. Her current work takes inspiration from the Celtic Tales and Myths from ‘The Mabinogi’.
